Those two puppies at the Met Museum simply made our day! This week, we want to feel the same amount of chill as the two of them and just breeze through it. There’s plenty of great events in our Go section to accomplish this, or relax listening to the CI to Eye podcast while learning something at the same time. And there’s still time to Apply for the 2050 Administrative Fellowship at the New York Theater Workshop. Here’s to feeling the chill this week without actually freezing like we did in last week’s cold!

Interviewing is always stressful no matter what field you are in. YPA has found that when it comes to the arts, different paths call on distinct tools to prepare for each interview. Marketing and Development roles within the arts are similar in that they demand keen communication skills, a personable nature, and the ability to adapt as technology and methods evolve. It involves having to comprehend and sell the mission and big picture goals of the organization to audiences and supporters on a daily basis, and because of that your first impression during an interview can impact everything. So how should one prepare for a dream job interview specifically for a role in the coveted Development or Marketing fields? Leaders Erica Sattin, Director of Development at National Sawdust, and Nella Vera, Director of Marketing for BFV Management, disclosed to us at last month’s Professional Development Workshop: The Art Job Interview a few key pointers on how to do your homework before stepping into your next big interview. The secret to amazing summers in NYC are beach days and weekends away, while weekdays should be spent exploring the many (mostly free!) outdoor activities. Trust us, we're writing this from The Glimmerglass Festival in upstate New York while overlooking Otsego Lake and reminiscing about the incredible Porgy and Bess production that premiered on Friday. While nights in the country are silent bliss, we can't wait to be back in the city and enjoy everything she has to offer. Here's to another action-packed week filled with arts, drinks, and friends!

We made it! A nice long holiday weekend has arrived to celebrate our great (albeit a bit stressful right now) country and with it time to sneak off to enjoy the cool air conditioning in cultural spots around town. This week we are heading to the Park Avenue Armory's unnerving surveillance exploring-installation, Hansel & Gretel created by the brilliant minds of Jacques Herzog and Pierre de Meuron, in collaboration with Ai Weiwei. Many creative or arts related entry-level positions demand experience within their respective fields prior to even landing the job. While internships offer a guaranteed route to learn, gain connections, and standout for future employers, many, (really, far too many) are unpaid. This vastly limits the pool of applicants that are able to commit their time while sacrificing income.
